Design and Build

The Latitude 3400 uses a classic black business design with a matte finish and polished edges. It looks clean and stays practical in daily office use. The body is plastic, and the lid can flex slightly under pressure, but the base feels more stable. The review source also notes MIL-STD-810G testing, supporting use in changing temperature and humidity conditions and in regular travel scenarios.

Display, Audio, and Webcam

The 14-inch Full HD matte panel is suitable for documents, web work, and presentations. Matte coating helps reduce reflections indoors. At the same time, this TN display has limited viewing angles and modest color coverage, so it is not ideal for color-critical image work. The 1 MP webcam is acceptable for basic video calls, and the speakers are typical for a business notebook: clear enough for meetings, without strong bass.

Keyboard and Touchpad

The keyboard is comfortable for long typing sessions and includes backlighting, which is useful in low-light environments. Key labels are clear and easy to read. The main drawbacks are the smaller arrow-key cluster and a layout area that does not use the full width of the deck. The touchpad responds quickly, supports common gestures, and integrates click zones in the lower area.

Performance, Ports, Connectivity, and Battery

For office workloads, the Core i5-8265U and 8 GB RAM deliver stable day-to-day performance for documents, browser tasks, communication tools, and light multitasking. Intel UHD Graphics 620 is suitable for business and media playback, but not for modern demanding games. Port selection is a strong point: USB Type-C, HDMI, VGA, RJ-45, multiple USB-A ports, and an SD card reader provide good compatibility with office equipment. Wireless connectivity includes Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.2. With the 42 Wh battery, the source review reports around 5-6 hours in light web and office usage.

Verdict

Dell Latitude 3400 is a sensible business laptop for users who need reliable office performance, broad connectivity, and a travel-friendly 14-inch form factor. Its strongest points are practical I/O, comfortable typing, and balanced productivity hardware. The main compromises are the TN panel limitations and HDD-based storage in this specific configuration.
